Versus Scouts

A question type is a specific format for asking questions in a survey. There are several survey question types, including open-ended questions, closed-ended questions, multiple-choice questions and rating scales. Each type of question serves a specific purpose and can provide valuable insights into the opinions, attitudes, and behaviors of survey respondents. Understanding the different types of survey question types and when to use them can help researchers design effective surveys that generate useful data.

Types of Question

Ask surveys supports these question types:

Net Promoter Score (NPS)

The Net Promoter Score (NPS) is a question type used to measure customer loyalty and satisfaction. It is based on a single question that asks respondents to rate, on a scale of 0-10, how likely they are to recommend a company, product, or service to a friend or colleague. Based on their responses, respondents are categorized as Promoters (score of 9-10), Passives (score of 7-8), or Detractors (score of 0-6).

Yes or No

Yes or No questions are a simple and commonly used question format, ideal for obtaining quick feedback on specific topics. Responses are binary and easily compared, making analysis straightforward. However, this format may not be suitable for detailed feedback. When using Yes or No questions, carefully consider their role in your survey structure and research objectives to ensure meaningful data.

Multiple Choice

This offers survey respondents a variety of choices to pick from, with a single choice being the default setting. However, by enabling the "multiple selections" option, respondents can choose as many options as they desire. To give respondents more flexibility, include an "Other" option that provides a text field for freeform responses.
